Lorentz Contraction as Elastic Bubble Compression: Physical Mechanism and Verification with Cosmic Muons

The Lorentz contraction L = L₀√(1−v²/c²) is a fundamental result of special relativity, conventionally derived from the constancy of c and the relativity principle. The Elastic Three-Dimensional Lattice (RTE) model offers a physical mechanism: a body in uniform motion carries an elastic equilibrium bubble; the bifasic tick rate inside the bubble is slower by factor 1/γ; and the Lorentz factor γ = 1/√(1−v²/c²) emerges as the natural rescaling of the co-moving wave equation (Paper 4b), without being postulated. The longitudinal extent of the bubble is constrained by the round-trip time of the internal elastic wave, yielding L = L₀/γ. The same γ that governs time dilation (Paper 3) governs length contraction — two manifestations of the same elastic bubble dynamics. With γ from the RTE dynamics, the model predicts 42.7% survival of cosmic muons produced at 15 km altitude (v = 0.9993c, γ = 26.7) — consistent with observation. The kinematic GPS correction (−7.2 μs/day) combined with the gravitational contribution from Paper 3 (+45.9 μs/day) gives the total +38.4 μs/day applied in practice. Abstract
