Expression of HDAC2 and HDAC8 in the airways of COPD patients is associated with responsiveness to ICS: insights from the HISTORIC study
Extract Inhaled corticosteroids (ICS) are widely used in COPD management, although their efficacy varies across patients. In many cases, ICS often provide only modest improvement in lung function and quality of life [1]. Moreover, long-term ICS use is associated with adverse effects such as pneumonia, oral candidiasis and dysphonia [2]. A key challenge, therefore, is identifying reliable biomarkers that predict corticosteroid responsiveness in COPD.
