Corporate digital responsibility and interfirm networks are associated with supply chain resilience in Chinese non-ferrous metal firms
Abstract This study examines the association between corporate digital responsibility (CDR) and supply chain resilience in China’s non-ferrous metals industry. Using panel data from Chinese A-share listed non-ferrous metal firms from 2011 to 2024, we construct a CDR index based on annual-report textual analysis and measure supply chain resilience through three dimensions: Resistance, Adaptability, and Recoverability. We also incorporate a social network perspective to examine network embeddedness. The results show that CDR is negatively associated with Resistance but positively associated with Adaptability and Recoverability. These findings remain broadly consistent when a more restrictive CoreCDR measure is used. Network-position-based indirect-association evidence reveals a stage-specific pattern: PageRank-related embeddedness is significantly associated with Adaptability and Recoverability, but not with Resistance. Heterogeneity analyses further show that the CDR–resilience association varies across technological attributes, metal types, and value-chain positions. Overall, the findings indicate that firms’ disclosed engagement with responsible digital governance is associated with stage-specific and context-dependent supply chain resilience.
