Effect of Single and Binary Solvent on the Performance of Electrospun PEO / PEDOT : PSS / MnCo 2 O 4 Fiber

ABSTRACT The influence of solvent composition on the fabrication of electrospun PEO/PEDOT/MnCo 2 O 4 composite fibers was systematically investigated using DI water, DI:ethanol, and DI:isopropanol solvent systems. The results revealed that solvent selection plays a critical role in governing fiber morphology, nanoparticle dispersion, and electrical performance. Among the investigated systems, the DI:isopropanol mixture produced the most uniform fibrous structure with significantly reduced bead formation and nanoparticle agglomeration, leading to the lowest sheet resistance of 266 kΩ/sq. Structural analyses confirmed the successful incorporation of MnCo 2 O 4 within the conductive polymer matrix while preserving the crystalline spinel phase. The improved morphology and conductivity achieved using the DI:isopropanol solvent system demonstrate the importance of solvent engineering in tailoring the properties of conductive electrospun composites. These findings provide valuable insights into solvent‐controlled fiber formation and establish a practical strategy for the development of advanced fibrous materials for future electronic, sensing, and energy‐related applications.

Abstract

The results revealed that solvent selection plays a critical role in governing fiber morphology, nanoparticle dispersion, and electrical performance.
