A radical rethink is necessary to enable community‐based resource management scaling in Solomon Islands: Comment to van der Ploeg et al. 2024

Abstract Scaling community‐based resource management (CBRM) in Solomon Islands (SI) faces significant challenges. In their perspective piece, van der Ploeg et al. present some options to strengthen enabling conditions for CBRM. However further efforts are needed to develop workable solutions and foster meaningful government buy‐in. Here we offer recommendations to strengthen CBRM and better align it with national and local priorities. While not solely responsible, international conservation non‐government organizations (IC‐NGOs) are key partners in linking local needs with policy through sustainable strategies.
