The Temporal Generator: The Fourth Generator of the Standard Model Gauge Algebra
The fourth generator of the Standard Model gauge algebra is the iteration index of the endomorphism's own cascade. The cycle-generator basis {γ₁, γ₂, γ₃} of H₁(Q; ℝ) has rank 3. Under the bilinear form B derived in *The Endomorphic Collapse Traverses the Foundations of Mathematics* (Stewart, 2026e), the Cartan-Killing correspondence on this basis returns su(3) ⊕ su(2). The full Standard Model gauge algebra su(3) ⊕ su(2) ⊕ u(1) has rank 4. A fourth generator independent of the spatial cycle basis is not supplied by H₁(Q; ℝ). The iterated endomorphism traces a torus T² = S¹ × S¹. The first circle S¹₁ is one complete traversal of the four-gon (a Hamiltonian cycle) γ₁. The second circle S¹₂ is the iteration index, advancing by one with each completed cascade. The temporal generator γ_τ is the fundamental class of S¹₂. Four propositions fix γ_τ: (i) γ_τ is independent of the spatial cycle basis, (ii) γ_τ does not satisfy the involution relation γ² = e (because the iteration does not reverse), (iii) γ_τ commutes with every spatial generator, since spatial cycles and the temporal circle act on independent coordinates of T², (iv) γ_τ generates a one-parameter abelian group whose Lie algebra is u(1). The bilinear form B extends from the 3 × 3 spatial block to a 4 × 4 block-diagonal matrix B̃ with B̃(γ_τ, γ_τ) = 4, derived from the boundary pair's 2² self-containment by applying the four-axiom method of Stewart (2026e) at the basis-extension scale. The extended basis returns su(3) ⊕ su(2) ⊕ u(1) at rank 4, the semisimple part by the Cartan-Killing correspondence and the abelian part by adjunction, u(1) having no root system and no Cartan matrix to be the image of. B̃(spatial) denotes the common diagonal entry the three spatial generators share. The structural invariant k₁ = B̃(γ_τ, γ_τ) / B̃(spatial) = 4/2 = 2 is this construction's derived ratio of bilinear-form diagonals, the boundary pair's two independent binary axes against the spatial generators' one at T. The ratio is conditional on one declared input, the law carrying one factor of 2 per independent binary axis into the form's diagonal, which the paper takes from the information scale and does not derive at the algebra register. The rank-4 result and the gauge algebra do not depend on that input. The Weinberg angle sin²θ_W = 1/3 as a structural value follows from k₁ = 2 by the boundary/interior coupling-strength correspondence Section 4.2 proposes, which inverts the count ratio to the coupling ratio g'²/g² = 1/k₁ = 1/2 and draws on the propagation-reach account developed in companion work, *Light* (Stewart, 2026bc), and the Loop 4 / cycle-to-cycle propagation account in *What I Am Will Be* (Stewart, 2026c). That correspondence is proposed rather than derived, and it is the second input the angle rests on beyond the algebra. This value is the substrate-scale structural ratio, fixed across the position-operations before the energy-reading (energy being the physics-register reading of position 4; *On Occurrence: The Four-Gon*, Stewart, 2026g, Consequence 7c). The measured value approximately 0.231 is that same ratio read at the record-and-energy layer. The map between them is the interior-to-record traversal, not renormalization-group running along an energy axis, which would import an axis the four-position cycle does not carry at this scale and is barred by the closure principle. The explicit traversal at the physics register is named as an open sub-problem in *The Endomorphism Beyond the Gauge Algebra* (Stewart, 2026bd). The 3+1 dimensional structure of spacetime follows from the involution failing on the temporal generator: the 3D spatial block is topped by a 1D temporal direction perpendicular to it. The algebra's dimension is fixed by basepoint structure and signed-edge counts, det(B̃) = 24 is the temporal diagonal scaled by the spatial block's type, and the torus's modulus waits on a temporal period the construction imports rather than derives. **Keywords:** Standard Model, gauge algebra, Weinberg angle, u(1), Lie algebra, Cartan matrix, quiver, path algebra, first homology, torus, spacetime dimensionality, temporal generator
