Posterior Maxillary Sinus Floor Elevation Prior to Implant Placement: A Case Report

Limited residual bone height in the posterior maxilla often prevents implant placement and necessitates maxillary sinus floor elevation. This case report describes the management of severe posterior maxillary atrophy using the lateral window technique. A 52-year-old male patient with inadequate residual bone height underwent lateral window sinus floor elevation with deproteinized bovine xenograft and a resorbable collagen membrane before implant rehabilitation. Healing was uneventful, with no intraoperative complications, and sufficient bone volume was achieved for subsequent implant placement. This case highlights that the lateral window technique is a predictable and effective approach for implant site development in patients with severe posterior maxillary bone deficiency
