The necessity of adding Hantavirus infection to the differential diagnosis of Iran syndromic surveillance
Iran's syndromic surveillance system is continuously monitoring emerging infectious diseases.Given the serological and molecular evidence of hantavirus circulation in rodent reservoirs and the human population of the country, strengthening diagnostic approaches in this system is important. In addition to presenting with manifestations such as renal and respiratory syndromes, hantavirus requires a distinct place in the differential diagnosis protocols of acute respiratory and influenza-like infections.Utilizing existing laboratory capacities, along with ongoing training for early identification of suspicious cases, can significantly strengthen the current surveillance system in managing possible outbreaks and responding to these potential threats
