Impact of drawing conditions during melt spinning on internal macromolecular organization of Poly(ethylene terephthalate) filaments for enhanced fineness levels

Poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) is widely used in the textile industry due to its mechanical strength, resistance to heat and chemicals, and cost-effective processing. These properties are primarily influenced by the internal macromolecular organization of PET filaments, which is heavily dependent on the drawing conditions during the melt spinning process. Achieving higher levels of fineness within the processed filaments is critical for enhancing their specific surface area, thereby improving performance in applications such as filtration or insulation. In this study, the effects of drawing conditions on the internal structure of PET filaments were investigated, including the orientation and crystallization of polymer chains. By examining the relationship between process parameters, such as temperature and speed of drawing rollers, and their impact on filament fineness and mechanical properties, we aim to establish a comprehensive understanding of how to optimize the melt spinning process for producing finer, more drawable filaments. Our findings provide insights into the relationship between drawing conditions and macromolecular arrangement, offering strategies for improving the performance of PET filaments in advanced textile applications.
