Comprehensive Review of Hybridization of Kenaf Fiber/Banana Fiber Filled Polymer Composites in Automobile and Aerospace Industries
ABSTRACT Natural fiber reinforced polymer composites have been extensively studied as a result of the automotive and aerospace industries' need for lightweight, durable materials and the growing environmental concerns surrounding the production of synthetic fibers. This review looks at polymer composites reinforced with kenaf fiber (KF) and banana fiber (BF) currently. It focuses on application of these materials in aerospace and automotive industries. This review methodically examines the material attributes, manufacturing methodologies, mechanical and thermal properties, and industrial applications of KF/BF hybrid composites. Kenaf fiber and banana fibers has possibility of showing high tensile strength with high specific modulus. Hybridization method has the possibility of enhancing tensile, flexural and impact strength than single fiber structure. Some of the manufacturers of popular vehicles have demonstrated that making use of these polymer fiber reinforced composite materials in fabrication of vehicles may reduce the weight of interior components of cars. In aerospace, purpose is to cause reduction in the weight of secondary structures. The review identified important challenges and also recommends future research directions like nanocellulose reinforcement, surface modification, and optimisation driven by artificial intelligence. This integration provides crucial direction for academics and engineers striving to optimize sustainable composite technologies for transportation uses.
