Making flood inundation mapping (FIM) work for multiple users : Understanding the value and function of FIM for decision support
Flood Inundation Mapping (FIM) is an important tool for communicating flood risk by showing flood extents, but these products require end-users to be able to understand, access, and act on the information shared. Responding to demand for event-driven FIM from emergency and water resource managers, the National Water Center (NWC), in coordination with River Forecast Centers (RFCs) and Weather Forecast Offices (WFOs), issues high-resolution FIM products through an interactive mapping platform.
