A Dual-Step Transposition and Discursive Filler Filtering Model for the Voynich Manuscript: A Hybrid Middle High German-Latin Case Study

This paper presents a deterministic, dual-step cryptanalytic model designed to decode the low-entropy structure of the Voynich Manuscript. We propose that the text is encrypted using a fixed transposition cipher operating on 2-to-3 character blocks, combined with high-frequency "discursive fillers" (muletillas) such as qokedy and qokaiin that obscure the underlying linguistic framework. By systematically isolating and filtering these noise patterns, the remaining text collapses by 35–40% in volume, revealing a highly consistent, hybrid linguistic system: Late Medieval Latin medical and botanical terminology nested within a Middle High German (Alto Alemán Medio) syntactic structure. The algorithm was validated across both botanical (Folios 1r, 1v, 2r) and astrological/zodiacal (Folio 70r) sections, producing a highly stable 8-term control dictionary (Diccionario de Control). The thematic independence of this cryptographic mechanism suggests the manuscript serves as a pragmatic, medieval laboratory manual (iatromathematical recipe book) rather than an arbitrary cipher or hoax.
