Distance, Physical Properties, and Deep Imaging of the Planck Cold Clump PGCC G103.36−17.11
PLCKECC G103.18 −17.09 (= PGCC G103.36 −17.11), catalogued by Planck in 2011 and 2016 and included in an unbiased NH3 survey (Berdikhan et al. 2024) without detection, has not previously been the subject of a dedicated physical characterization. We derive its distance via two independent methods, (CO kinematics and Gaia DR3 stellar reddening), its mass, size, and density, and its dynamical state via a thermal-plus-turbulent Jeans mass analysis. Deep LRGB imaging (27.5 hr integration) resolves the source as a reflection nebula with an irregular, filamentary morphology, and reveals discrete density condensations, the peak of which coincides with the far-infrared point source IRAS 23071+4135. A search for WISE mid-infrared excess and an existing NH3 non-detection both argue against an actively accreting embedded YSO at this position.
