Searching for a Single Foundation: The Gordon Acoustic Metric as a Candidate Action Principle for the NeoGravity Ether Plenum

General relativity draws much of its standing from the fact that its predictions follow from a single variational principle applied to one geometric object, across every regime. The preceding papers of this series establish a collection of correspondences between gravitational phenomena and a compressible Ether Plenum, each justified separately, and a collection of separately justified correspondences is not a theory. This paper searches for the single foundation from which they might all follow, tests three candidate routes, and reports that none of them supplies it. The first route is the Gordon acoustic metric, which shows that a scalar field propagating through a moving medium obeys a wave equation identical in form to a field in curved spacetime. Rendering it tractable requires the stiff-fluid limit in which the medium perturbation speed approaches the speed of light, and in that limit the term carrying the medium velocity vanishes identically, leaving only a conformal rescaling of the background. Schwarzschild spacetime is not conformally flat, so the simplification that made the problem tractable removed the one ingredient capable of solving it. The remaining two routes attack the same problem from the side of the coupling strength. Defining eta as the dimensionless fraction of outward mass-energy momentum returned to matter as inward load, the paper first shows what the framework delivers without any adjustment: diluting a mass-energy momentum flux across spherical shells and coupling it to a second body through a mass-proportional cross-section reproduces Newton law exactly, with both masses and the squared separation cancelling identically. The form of gravitation is derived; only its strength remains unknown, and it is now isolated in a single number. Attempting to compute that number from particle-specific scales returns an expression still containing both masses, which would make gravitational efficiency differ between a planet and an electron and contradict the universality of G. Attempting to compute it from Planck scales appears to give the elegant value one half, and the paper reports that the algebra is correct while the result is a tautology, since the quantity G h divided by c cubed times the Planck area equals two pi identically by the definition of the Planck length. The paper then proves that no nontrivial dimensionless combination of G, the reduced Planck constant, and c exists at all, so the coupling efficiency requires at least one further dimensionful quantity supplied by the medium. Three negative results, each excluding a family of candidate answers, together locate the foundation elsewhere: in classical hydrostatic equilibrium under the Radiative Undertow, developed by an independent route in the paper that follows.
