“Embracing the Grief”: The Home Memorial Room as a Spatial Prosthesis and a Space of Narrative Rebellion Among Parents of Fallen Soldiers

This phenomenological study examines 21 bereaved parent couples from the "Iron Swords" War who established home memorial rooms. Using dyadic interviews, the phenomenon of "spatial-dyadic regulation" was analyzed-a process where the room acts as a "spatial prosthesis" compensating for the identity fracture within the couple. Findings reveal "Builder and Curator" dynamics, which generate shared agency to restore control. The "dyadic buffer" concept defines the room as a regulator for "depositing" bereavement within a bounded territory, creating a "sterile zone" in the rest of the home for life's continuity. The "epistemic alliance" highlights a narrative rebellion against the nationalization of the soldier's image, prioritizing biographical-civilian identity. "Material archaeology" emphasizes tangible objects as essential anchors against digital grief. Clinicians must validate the tension between the room's sanctity and the home's vitality to reconstruct the couple's meaning.
