Polymorphisms in the MMP-2 gene and susceptibility to diabetes mellitus and complications: a scoping review protocol
This scoping review aims to map and synthesize the available scientific evidence regarding the association between genetic variants (polymorphisms and SNPs), haplotype profiles, or plasma levels of the MMP-2 gene and protein and susceptibility to diabetes mellitus (types 1 and 2), as well as the development and progression of its chronic musculoskeletal and vascular complications (micro- and macrovascular, such as nephropathy, retinopathy, neuropathy, and cardiovascular events).
