Power Card Intervention to Support Early Work Skills of Youth With Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities
Transition-aged youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) often experience employment challenges and require support to develop job readiness skills. The interests of transition-aged youth can be embedded into early job skills training to enhance motivation. This study examined the effects of a multicomponent power card intervention to teach photocopying skills to three youth with IDD, ages 14 or 15 years. We used a multiple-probe-across-participants design with maintenance and generalization conditions. Results indicated a functional relation between the power card intervention and the target job skill of photocopying. The students and their teachers completed social validity measures and reported overall high satisfaction with the power card intervention.
