Topological QED: Photons as Vector Update Packets and the Algorithmic Emergence of the Coulomb Force in QGEFT

The current Paper 87 benchmark does not claim that continuum quantum electrodynamics, its renormalization, or its full particle content have been derived from first principles. It does show that the verified QGEFT repository now reproduces, in one self-contained Monte-Carlo experiment, the algorithmic core of classical electromagnetism. A moving charge (electron antenna, `Q_1 = -1`, at column 8 of a `41x41` vacuum, `N = 1681` nodes) is forced into a small harmonic oscillation right and left (amplitude 2 cells, period 48 sweeps, one hop every 6 sweeps), and each hop leaves a local Gauss-law violation — a topological debt. The AutoAI engine repairs the debt by broadcasting the emitter's twist as a ripple of edge-phase updates that advances at exactly one topological shell per clock sweep: the photon wavefront travels at `c_light = 1.009` shells/sweep in **all eight seeds** `{7,11,13,17,19,23,29,31}` and reaches the full `26/26` shells (the graph light cone; the packet is massless, `N_higgs = 0`, acceptance `1.0000`). The distant receiver (`Q_2 = ±1`, distance 26) remains completely frozen until sweep `29–31`: the measured response onset (`23–25` sweeps after emission) matches the theoretical `d/c = 24.77` sweeps to within `0.2–1.8` sweeps (error `< 8%`) — no action at a distance. Only then does the receiver dance under the twist-conflict energy `E_coulomb = lambda_EM * Q_1 * Q_2 / (1 + d)` (`lambda_EM = 800`): the electron receiver (identical charge) is repelled outward by `+2.04..+2.15` cells (mean `+2.08`), while the positron receiver (opposite charge) is attracted inward by `-3.58..-3.68` cells (mean `-3.64`), both 4–10x beyond the pre-arrival thermal jitter (std `0.33–0.53` cells). The null controls prove the force is carried by the wave alone: with the emitter held still the receiver's displacement stays at `0.000` cells (a static charge does not radiate), and with the coupling removed (`lambda_EM = 0`) the photons fly but the receiver feels nothing (`+0.027` cells). The electromagnetic force is thus not a force at all: it is the pattern of edge-phase updates by which an optimizing vacuum announces that a charge has moved, building directly on the mass-as-drag program of Paper 82, the zero-drag motif of Paper 83, and the axion's scalar node update of Paper 85 — extended here from a scalar update to a *vectorial* edge update, the photon.
