Sheltering characteristics of V-type wave elimination system under different fields
Based on the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method, a three-dimensional numerical wave tank is developed to simulate the viscous flow field and to validate the wave dissipation performance under regular waves. The sheltering effectiveness of the V-type system for amphibious landing craft under combined wind–wave–current conditions is then investigated, considering its improved hydrodynamic layout identified in wave-only studies. Results indicate that the 45° configuration exhibits improved wave dissipation, offering more favourable sheltering characteristics. Under different layout angles, the wave height near the front edge (G2) of the V-type system exhibits a bulging phenomenon. Behind the system (G3), the wave height displays non-linear characteristics such as waveform distortion and irregular peaks. Relative to the wave-only condition, wave height at G1 shifts upward under combined wind–wave–current fields, which also significantly amplifies the amphibious landing craft's heave and pitch motions. The pitch motion displays marked non-linearity, and peak resistance rises substantially compared to the wave-only condition, accompanied by a distinct forward shift in its time history. This indicates that the presence of wind and current exerts a certain excitation effect on the waves. This research provides guidance for the engineering implementation of V-shaped wave dissipation systems.
