Experimental Investigation for Antislipping Performance of High-Strength Steel Slip-Resistant Connections with Particles Pressed in Connected Plates

Abstract Friction-type connections with high-strength bolts are one of the main connection methods in steel structures. Currently, there are few studies on the antislip coefficient of high-strength bolted connections. Existing research shows that under the same shot blasting and sandblasting surface treatment conditions, the antislip coefficient decreases as the strength grade of the steel increases. To address the above issue, a new idea of antislip connection by pressing particles into the surface of high-strength steel plates is proposed to improve the antislip performance of high-strength bolted connections for high-strength steels. In this paper, experiments on pressing particles into high-strength steel plates and antislip connection experiments with high-strength bolts are carried out, and the key influencing factors and their effects on the antislip coefficient of particles pressed into the surface of high-strength steel plates are studied. The particle pressing experiments show that when a single particle with different diameters is pressed into the high-strength steel plate, the pressing load increases with increasing particle diameter. In the case of pressing multiple particles into a high-strength steel plate, when the particle diameter remains unchanged, the pressing load increases with the increase of the number of particles and basically increases in multiples. The antislip connection experiments with high-strength bolts show that when 8 GCr15 particles with a diameter of 2 mm are pressed into an 8-mm-thick Q460 high-strength steel plate, the ultimate antislip coefficient reaches 1.78. An estimation equation for the antislip bearing capacity after pressing particles into the high-strength steel plate is fitted, and the results show that the antislip connection with pressed particles is an efficient and economical connection method.
