Genghis Khan OR Chinese Khan? Reshaping the World by Chinese Military Corporations
Was Genghis Khan the product of a struggle for survival among steppe peoples—or was he a geopolitical project of certain Chinese elites amidst their geopolitical rivalries? This article examines Chinese policy from ancient times to the present day through the new concept of the military corporation—a military-political structure capable of integrating power, trade, information, infrastructure, and governance far beyond its own borders. The article draws parallels between the policies of medieval Chinese military corporations and the policies of the Chinese government today.
