CRBench: A Method-Agnostic, Resource-Aware Evaluation Framework for Long-Context Large Language Models
CRBench (Context Resource Benchmark) is a method-agnostic, query-level evaluation framework for long-context large language models that measures contextual capability retention relative to the memory and system resources consumed. CRBench evaluates candidate context-memory representations pairwise against the same model's uncompressed FP16/BF16 dense reference on identical queries. It defines a reference-anchored quality retention metric Q, explicit analytical and physical memory accounting, a resource-aware Part 1 utility score, and a decoupled Part 2 system track incorporating TTFT, prefill latency, and decode throughput. Version 0.2.0 provides the formal benchmark specification, modular software architecture, query-level evaluation pipeline, custom adapter interface, reproducible scoring and raw-result infrastructure, and preliminary empirical validation on Qwen2.5-1.5B across five contextual tasks at 2K and 4K context lengths. This research preview precedes planned validation across larger model families and extended context horizons up to 128K tokens.
