Plicaria adhaerens (Pezizaceae), a new Mediterranean non-pyrophilous species from south-west Spain

A new species of Plicaria is described and illustrated from the province of Badajoz (south-western continental Spain). It is characterised by its non-pyrophilous ecology, spherical ascospores ornamented with spines up to 2 µm high, and the strong adherence of the apothecia to the substrate. The material was compared to related taxa using both morphological and phylogenetic data, supporting its recognition as a distinct species.
