Electromagnetic and thermal behaviors of superconductor magnet stator with slot defect of high-temperature superconductor bearing
High-temperature superconductor bearings (HTSBs) offer significant advantages. However, due to the fabrication process of materials and operating conditions, defects or cracks may develop in the superconductor magnet stator (SMS). This will affect the safe operation of the HTSB. In this paper, a transverse isotropic H-φ method is proposed to construct a comprehensive three-dimensional model for a radial HTSB. The effects of the defect on the electromagnetic and thermal behaviors of the SMS are first discussed. The results show that the levitation force and radial force increase with the critical current density and magnetization. When the SMS contains a slot defect, the circulating current forms near the defect, increasing the temperature rise and electromagnetic losses in the corresponding regions. The findings of this paper provide a reference for optimizing the structural design of radial HTSBs.
