Storm Goretti and its effects in Southwest England and the Channel Islands
Abstract Storm Goretti was one of the most intense depressions to affect South West England and occurred as one of the sequence of storms of winter 2025/2026. Gale‐force winds affected many parts of southern England, the Channel Islands and northern France as it moved eastwards on 8/9 January 2026, adding to the damage of its predecessor Storm Bram . Its effects began a damaging spell of weather, continued by Storms Ingrid and Chandra later in January. It also brought extreme gust speeds to some areas.
