Effect of Peroxide-Containing and Peroxide-Free Whitening Mouthrinses on Color Stability and Surface Roughness of Cad/Cam Resin Matrix Ceramics After Staining
Background: Staining beverages can compromise the esthetic appearance of computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) resin matrix ceramics, while whitening mouthrinses are commonly used for stain removal. This study evaluated the effects of peroxide-containing and peroxide-free mouthrinses on the color stability (ΔE00) and surface roughness (Ra) of three CAD/CAM resin matrix ceramics after staining. Methods: A hybrid ceramic (Vita Enamic), resin nanoceramic (Cerasmart), and glass-ceramic containing composite (Brava) were sectioned into standardized specimens. Baseline ΔE00 and Ra values were recorded. Specimens were immersed in coffee, cola, red wine, or distilled water for 12 days and subsequently treated with a peroxide-containing mouthrinse (Crest 3D White) or peroxide-free mouthrinse (Colgate Optic White) for 24 hours. Post-treatment ΔE00 and Ra were assessed. Data were analyzed using repeated-measures ANOVA with post hoc tests (α=0.05).Results: Crest 3D White yielded significantly greater stain removal than Colgate Optic White in all materials (p
