Food Insecurity as a Social Determinant of Mental Health among U.S. Adults
This project aims to analyze the National Health Interview Survey (2024) to understand the role of food insecurity on mental health among adults (18 and above) in the US. Particularly, this study addresses the following research questions: (RQ 1) Do mental health outcomes differ significantly across levels of food insecurity? (RQ 2) Are food-insecure adults more likely to report adverse mental health outcomes than food-secure adults after controlling for demographic and socioeconomic factors?
