Improving the Recovery Capability of NiTi Shape Memory Alloy Sheets by High-Density Pulsed Electric Current Treatment

High-density pulsed electric current (HDPEC) treatment was investigated as a rapid alternative to conventional heat treatment for NiTi sheets. Tensile, recovery, X-ray diffraction, and transmission electron microscopy analyses showed that 220[Formula: see text]A for 100[Formula: see text]ms provided the best strength–ductility–recovery balance, reaching 1049.5[Formula: see text]MPa peak stress, 0.473 fracture strain, and approximately 95% thermal recovery after 5.7% tensile strain. One 110[Formula: see text]A, 50[Formula: see text]ms recovery pulse achieved 84.62% recovery after 5.94% strain, while ten pulses produced approximately 88% recovery after approximately 7% strain. The response was associated with B2/B19[Formula: see text] transformation and treatment-dependent lamellar structures. These results establish a sheet-specific millisecond processing window for rapid and localised NiTi actuation.
