Consciousness Under Correction: Structural Intelligence, Warrant, Fixed Worth, and the Architecture of Answerable Intelligence

This paper presents a readable synthesis of Structural Intelligence around one central question: what makes a person, theory, relationship, institution, or artificial system genuinely correctable? Stable organization is necessary for memory, identity, action, coordination, and explanation. But stability becomes a problem when a belief, role, model, metric, or system protects its own coherence against evidence, consequence, or other perspectives. The framework separates several events that are often collapsed into the single word correction. A discrepancy is something that does not fit. Contact is a relevant constraint that can challenge the current organization. A correction claim says what should change. Warrant asks whether that proposed change is justified. Response may take the form of calibrated revision, reasoned resistance, compliance, suspended judgment, defensive closure, or merely performative revision. Binding occurs only when justified correction changes later confidence, behavior, repair, decision pathways, burden allocation, or evidential practice. The paper develops correction-capacity as warrant-response calibration over time rather than simple openness or willingness to agree. It also develops fixed worth as a proposed human condition that may make self-relevant correction more survivable: a person can be wrong about a belief, role, or self-image without treating that error as proof of total worthlessness. The same abstract grammar is then applied, with different mechanisms, to relationships, institutions, and artificial intelligence. For AI, the paper distinguishes fluent self-correction, persistent memory, corrective continuity, perceived social presence, and phenomenal consciousness. The central claim is modest: intelligence is better revealed by reorganization under warranted correction than by coherence, confidence, or polished self-consistency alone.
