Blockers and Outcomes in Applied MBA Ventures: Descriptive Evidence from Entrepreneurial and Intrapreneurial Projects in Colombia
MBA programs increasingly use applied projects to connect coursework with venture creation and organizational innovation. We analyze 1,779 projects from one Colombian executive-format MBA program (2000–2024), focusing on reported blockers, launch status, and post-launch outcomes. Time and workload were the most frequent primary blocker, rising after 2020. Award recognition and intrapreneurial orientation were positively associated with launch, but the retrospective single-site archive supports descriptive associations rather than causal claims. Among launched projects with reported outcomes, revenue and employment increased modestly with operating duration, with substantial skew and missingness.
