Focus on Fatigue
Fatigability—defined as the inability to sustain repetitive physical activities—is frequently reported by patients with facioscapulohumeral dystrophy (FSHD). Despite its clinical relevance, data on fatigability in childhood-onset FSHD are lacking. Fatigability has been demonstrated using the Endurance Shuttle Box and Block Test (ESBBT) for proximal arm muscles and the Endurance Shuttle Walk Test (ESWT) for leg muscles in spinal muscular atrophy. This exploratory cross-sectional study investigates the feasibility of the ESBBT and ESWT in detecting fatigability and evaluates the presence and characteristics of performance fatigability in children and young adults with childhood-onset FSHD.
