Influence of nanoparticle-reinforced bridge structure in classical guitar top plate on the vibrational behavior and acoustic radiation
The mechanical characteristics of bridge structure in classical guitars are critical in the vibrational response and efficiency of sound radiations of the guitar. This paper provides an overview of methodologies that could be used to study the effects of nanoparticle on the dynamic properties and the acoustic radiation efficiency of bridge structure located on the classical guitar top plate. A multi-step Euler-Bernoulli beam is used for mathematical modelling and the influence of classical guitar top plate is simulated with axial and rotational springs at both end of bridge beam. The effect of graphene nano platelets (GPLs) is presented by the Halpin-Tsai model with three distribution of uniform, linear an nonlinear. The Adomian decomposition method (ADM) is used for solution in order to obtain the frequency and radiation efficiency. The effects of nanoparticls an various distributions, boundary conditions and geometrical parameters of the bridges are investigated on the influence vibration frequencies and radiation efficiency. The quantitative results demonstrate that the inclusion of nanoparticles had an effective effect on increasing the bending stiffness of the bridge that produced visible changes in frequencies, particularly in the bridge region, and a rise in radiation efficiency of 83.6% and 69.1% in Modes 1 and 2, respectively. Mode 4 was more sensitive to GPL reinforcement, and an increase of 17.7% in the frequency of the mode was much higher than 12% in Mode 1. The findings suggest that the improvement of the structural stability and transmission of the sound to the materials through the reinforcement of the nanoparticles provides a rational method of designing and developing the advanced classical guitars.
