Intelligent Multi-Target Mechanisms of Liposolubility Flavonoids and Targeted Nano-Delivery Systems: An Artificial Intelligence-Powered Study
Flavonoids are plant-derived polyphenols with potent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anticancer, neuroprotective, metabolic, and antimicrobial activities. Their clinical and functional food applications are severely hampered by poor water solubility, low oral absorption, rapid metabolism, and consequently low bioavailability. This review systematically summarizes the biological functions and multi-target regulatory mechanisms of flavonoids, emphasizing key cell signaling pathways. Beyond conventional encapsulation, we highlight recent advances in multifunctional and stimuli-responsive nanocarrier systems that improve flavonoid bioavailability and therapeutic efficacy. Various nano-platforms are discussed in terms of construction strategies, physicochemical properties, release profiles, targeting capabilities, and representative uses. Emerging AI-driven approaches—including molecular docking, QSAR modeling, and machine learning for formulation optimization—are introduced as powerful tools to accelerate rational design of intelligent delivery systems. Safety aspects, such as material biocompatibility, formulation stability, and long-term biosafety, are also addressed. This review offers new perspectives on developing efficient, safe, and smart nanotechnology-based strategies to maximize the functional potential of flavonoids in disease prevention, health promotion, and functional foods.
