Frontotemporozygomatic Approach Used for a Tumor Involving Three Compartments
Abstract The trigeminal schwannomas involving the mandibular nerve are rare benign tumors and these lesions can attain a significant size before becoming symptomatic. They may extend through the foramen ovale into the infratemporal and parapharyngeal spaces, posing major surgical challenges. We report a case of a 31-year-old female with a large schwannoma involving the middle cranial fossa, infratemporal fossa, and parapharyngeal space. The lesion was excised using a transcranial approach. This report outlines the anatomical, radiological, and technical considerations essential for complete surgical resection while preserving neural and vascular integrity.
