Modern Logic in the context of Frege and Peano
Modern Logic in the context of Frege and Peano Dr. Pooja In this research paper, I am enlightening reference to Frege and Peano in Bertrand Russell’s Introduction to Mathematical Philosophy. According to Russell, Peano “represents the last perfection of the ‘arithmetisation’ of mathematics, to that of Frege, who first succeeded in ‘logicising’ mathematics, i.e. in reducing to logic the arithmetical notions which his predecessors had shown to be sufficient for mathematics”. The term “modern logic” conventionally refers to developments in the field of logic from the start of the European Renaissance to the turn of the 20th century.. Modern logic exhibited an extreme diversity, and its chaotic development reflected all too clearly the political and intellectual turmoil with which it was surrounded.
