The Historical Significance of the 1999 Patent Law English–Japanese / Japanese–English Dictionary as a Pre-Historical Evidence of Technorhetoric Version 3.0
This paper clarifies the historical significance of the 1999 Patent Law English–Japanese / Japanese–English Dictionary authored by Hideki Kataoka as the earliest physical implementation of the structural principle one word = one meaning within the forty-five- year developmental trajectory of Technorhetoric Version 3.0 (1981–2026). Although the dictionary is not the conceptual origin of Technorhetoric, it represents a pre-historical by-product that provides rare physical evidence of one early component of the later Version 3.0 OS. The paper demonstrates that the dictionary does not contain the ABC structure, SSJ™ (Speed, Struggle, Joy), or the structural principles one sentence = one idea® and one paragraph = one topic®. Instead, it documents the first practical implementation of terminological precision that later evolved into one of the three structural pillars of Technorhetoric Version 3.0. Its preservation by major U.S. academic institutions—including the Library of Congress and the University of California, Berkeley—provides internationally verifiable archival evidence of the early conceptual foundations of Technorhetoric. By situating the dictionary correctly within the established historical timeline, this paper prevents misinterpretation and protects the historical purity of Technorhetoric Version 3.0.
