A Story of Literary Freedom - A Journey through American Censorship
The topic of censorship has been one of heavy debate in this country for centuries. And like with all other forms of censorship, the topic of book censorship always comes down to a question of whether or not it is restricting our literary freedoms guaranteed by the First Amendment. This study analyzes the history of book censorship throughout the United States, the reasons behind why a book would be challenged or banned, and the different opinions of organizations for and against censorship. This study will be conducted through the use of an interpretative method, in order to draw my own conclusions based on research. The goal is to prove that the persistence of book censorship does lead to deep fears concerning our literary freedom.
