Frida Kahlo's Revolution
Imagine a biography about Jackson Pollock that examines his work in relation to the ups and downs of his marriage to Lee Krasner– inconceivable yet usually unquestioned with Frida Kahlo. In my thesis, I attempt to disentangle Kahlo's artwork from her traumatic personal story. Throughout this project, I explore the influence of the Mexican Revolution on Kahlo's life and work, and eventually Kahlo's influence on contemporary popular culture.
