Engendering a Spectrum of Gender through Plurality
An analysis of gender through the science fiction and fantasy novels, The Left Hand of Darkness, by Ursula k. Le Guin and Wild Seed, by Octavia E. Butler, to discover how these authors go about criticizing the current gender binary through their science fiction. Their characters focus on and have certain abilities which are categorized as gender fluid, leading Butler and Le Guin away from a heteronormative binary which fails to define the spectrum of gender humans live on.
