The Skriker by Caryl Churchill

The Skriker by Caryl Churchill is a play that tells the story of two teenage mothers, Josie and Lily, and their experience with a shape-shifting fairy, the Skriker. The ancient fairy, during the course of the play, transforms into a plethora of objects and people as it pursues Lily and Josie, whom it befriends, manipulates, seduces and traps. While speaking English in its human incarnations, the Skriker’s own language consists of broken and fragmented word play. The play contains themes that specifically focus on climate change and how badly humans treat the planet.
