Malaria: The World's Longest Epidemic
This formal paper covers the history of malaria and how it continues to remain elusive for so long since the cause was first identified in 1880. included are two preventative measures (mosquito nets and vaccines) that are currently enacted compounded with scholarly data to evaluate the overall effectiveness of each procedure. Finally, the paper will cover three advanced biocontrol methods that scientists have been trying to perfect with the hopes of paving the way for a long term solution: sterile insect technique (SIT), clustered regularly interspersed short palindromic repeats (CRISPR), and the unique properties of the Gram-positive bacterium Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt).
