Design and Analysis of a Dynamic Pulsed Magnetic Nozzle for Z-Pinch Fusion Spacecraft
This research presents the "Dynamic Pulsed Multi-Coil Nozzle," an advanced magnetic propulsion architecture designed for high-beta Z-pinch fusion propulsion. Utilizing a "tunnel of rings" configuration, the system employs sequential, synchronized 10–100 Hz pulsed traveling magnetic waves to stably guide, compress, and accelerate high-energy fusion plasma. The framework integrates magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) trajectory equations, plasma beta confinement validation, and kinetic beta (beta_k) detachment criteria, while incorporating Faraday's Law for Direct Energy Conversion (DEC) to recycle energy back into the capacitor banks. Designed to withstand 50T-class magnetic hoop stresses, nanosecond-scale switching timings, and intense thermal fluxes, this system offers a robust pathway for high-efficiency interstellar and interplanetary transport.
