إطار نظم القرآن | The Qur'anic Coherence Framework — The Logic of Revelation, Order, and Guidance

he Qur'anic Coherence Framework is Volume I of The Qur'anic Coherence System and the methodological foundation for the three volumes that follow. It addresses a recurring difficulty in modern reading: the Qur'an was revealed over approximately twenty-three years, yet the received muṣḥaf is not arranged as a chronological narrative. A reader trained by modern linear books may therefore mistake non-chronological organization for disorder. This volume asks a more disciplined question: what kinds of meaning become visible when the received order is studied as an intentional textual sequence rather than measured against a genre it does not claim to be? The framework develops a controlled vocabulary for this inquiry. Naẓm names order and coherence; munāsabah names relations among textual units; ʿamūd names the proposed governing burden or axis of a surah; surah unity asks whether apparently diverse materials participate in one larger discourse; placement logic studies why a unit stands where it stands; movement traces the direction of argument, narrative, warning, legislation, consolation, or return. These categories are treated as research tools rather than devotional slogans. Each must earn its interpretive value through textual evidence. The volume also situates structural reading within a long intellectual history, from classical attention to tanāsub and munāsabah through al-Biqāʿī, Shah Waliullah, Farāhī and Iṣlāḥī, and into modern work by Mustansir Mir, Neal Robinson, Salwa El-Awa, Raymond Farrin, Michel Cuypers and contemporary Qur'anic Studies. It does not present these approaches as identical. Their disagreements over segmentation, symmetry, macro-groups, chronology, and the force of literary structure are part of the method because they expose the points at which a coherence claim must be tested rather than merely admired.

Abstract

he Qur'anic Coherence Framework is Volume I of The Qur'anic Coherence System and the methodological foundation for the three volumes that follow.
