Constructing a molecular interaction and spatiotemporal regulation map of inter-species grafting

Grafting is a form of asexual reproduction technology that has been widely applied in agriculture and forestry. It can enhance the stress resistance of crops, alter plant architecture, and preserve the excellent traits of the scion variety. However, the compatibility in grafting between different cross-species plants varies significantly, and the underlying genetic factors and molecular mechanisms require further exploration. This project aims to utilize genomics, transcriptomics, resequencing, single-cell and spatiotemporal omics technologies to study cross-species grafting combinations, obtain high-throughput data, develop analytical processes and algorithms, and investigate the trans-species genetic transmission of materials between the scion and rootstock, map the spatiotemporal omics of molecular interactions during the development of the graft interface, and identify key regulatory genes associated with graft compatibility and important traits.
