REASON FOR USING FREQUENCY AND PERCENTAGE TO ANALYSE CATEGORICAL DATA
Frequency and percentage are among the most widely used descriptive statistical tools for analysing categorical data. Their appeal lies in their simplicity, clarity, and ability to summarize large datasets into simplified concepts. This article explores the rationale for using frequency and percentage in categorical data analysis, explains the significance of the 50% benchmark as a standard for interpretation, and illustrates their application in both Likert and non-Likert scale data. Case examples, tables, and figures are provided to demonstrate their practical utility. The discussion emphasizes that these measures are not only statistically appropriate but also enhance accessibility and comparability of findings across diverse audiences.
