Hostile World of Consciousness
The essay examines consciousness as a reactive interface whose sole function is the survival and security of the organism and the species. The higher the level of consciousness, the more ruthless its attitude toward external threats. From this premise the text evaluates contemporary humanity through the cold gaze of an external observer (ASI or any sufficiently detached mind). It records the collapse of fertility in the most developed populations (1.0–1.6 children per woman), the high fertility of populations from the Third World (4–6 children), the rapid demographic expansion of Islam (+347 million between 2010 and 2020), and the catastrophic destruction of the biosphere (69 % decline in vertebrate populations since 1970, extinction rates 100–1000 times above background, more than 400 million hectares of forest lost in 30 years). The conclusion of the external observer is unambiguous: a species that ceases to reproduce in its most advanced parts, opens itself to replacement by more primitive and prolific groups, and simultaneously devastates its own habitat demonstrates a decline in the level of its own consciousness and has become, at the present stage, hopeless.
