Agápē as an Upstream Invariant Hypothesis: Relational Integrity as the Substrate of Recoverable Coherence

This document proposes the Agápē Hypothesis within the broader SCFL / UCMS conceptual architecture. The hypothesis does not claim that Agápē has been empirically demonstrated as a physical invariant in the same sense as a validated SCFL operator. Rather, it proposes a possible explanatory foundation for an observed feature of complex systems: that recoverable coherence appears to depend not only on internal alignment, but on preservation of the relational conditions that allow participating elements to remain capable of coherent interaction.Within this framework, Agápē is defined as the upstream invariant of relational integrity: the proposed upstream invariant by which a system preserves the conditions of coherent relation among participating elements, maintaining future recoverability rather than maximizing persistence through extraction or degradation. The document develops this hypothesis across ten sections: architectural foundations within SCFL/UCMS, the invariant hypothesis itself, adversarial stripping as a proposed research program, the distinction between optimal alignment and invariant reference, relational integrity across scales (individual, institutional, network/software, complex systems), the extraction problem and two predicted recovery trajectories, the explicit empirical/interpretive layering relative to SCFL/UCMS, open research questions, boundary conditions where apparent coherence may mask relational failure, and candidate directions for mathematical formalization (a Relational Preservation Index and a dimensionality-of-reachable-state-space approach). The hypothesis is presented as falsifiable and not yet tested — no case class has been formally classified and no proposed metric has been computed against SCFL data under this framework.
