Dual Functional NiCr LDH@MXene Textile Platform for Integrated Flexible Energy Storage and Wearable Piezoresistive Sensing

This preprint reports a dual-functional NiCr LDH@MXene textile platform for integrated flexible energy storage and wearable piezoresistive sensing. Redox-active NiCr layered double hydroxide nanosheets were grown in situ on conductive Ti3C2 MXene and deposited onto a conductive textile substrate, producing an interconnected nanosheet network with enhanced electron transport, ion diffusion, electroactive site exposure, and pressure-sensitive electrical modulation. The NiCr@MXene textile serves as both a solid-state symmetric supercapacitor electrode and a flexible pressure-sensing layer. The supercapacitor delivers a specific capacitance of 279.4 F g-1 at 0.5 A g-1, an energy density of 31.6 Wh kg-1, and 92% capacitance retention after 5000 cycles. The same hybrid film exhibits piezoresistive sensing with an overall sensitivity of 54.64 kPa-1 and a high low-pressure sensitivity of 88.54 kPa-1 in the 0-0.89 kPa range. Wearable demonstrations include real-time monitoring of finger bending, joint motion, throat vibrations, and speech-related signals, highlighting the potential of NiCr LDH@MXene textiles for simplified, flexible, energy-integrated wearable electronics.
