Effects of comparative context on the evaluation and domain-specific tolerance on intrareligious subgroup
Building on the principle of comparative fit, this study aims to test whether comparative context of frame of reference reshape how people evaluate intragroup subgroup (in this case, intrareligious subgroups). This study will use a modified stereotype content task paradigm. Participants will be asked to select up to 10 adjectives that they believe best represent intrareligious subgroup(s) of Islam in Indonesia. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of two conditions varying in frame of reference: (1) intrareligious only frame and (2) interreligious + intrareligious frame. Following the adjectives selection task, participants will also complete tolerance measures assessing tolerance toward intrareligious subgroups across different domains. Adjective distributions and tolerance ratings will then be compared across conditions.
