Cultural Diversity and Organizational Productivity: Examining the Influence of Inclusive Human Resource Practices

AbstractThe increasing globalization of business operations has transformed cultural diversity into a defining characteristic of contemporary organizations. While workforce diversity offers considerable opportunities for innovation, creativity, and organizational learning, its contribution to organizational productivity depends largely on the effectiveness of inclusive human resource practices. The present study examines the relationship between workplace cultural diversity and organizational productivity by investigating the influence of inclusive human resource management practices within culturally diverse organizations. A quantitative research design was employed using survey data collected from 778 employees working in culturally diverse organizations. Multiple regression analysis was conducted after confirming the assumptions of normality, multicollinearity, and independence of residuals. The findings indicate that the regression model is statistically significant and explains a substantial proportion of the variation in organizational productivity. Among the examined variables, effective time management, work–health balance, communication from top management, team synergy, and workforce management practices relating to cultural diversity significantly enhance organizational productivity. Conversely, equitable work allocation, staffing diversity, peer communication, and supportive leadership did not exhibit statistically significant independent effects after controlling for other organizational factors. The findings suggest that cultural diversity alone does not improve organizational performance; rather, organizations derive productivity gains when diversity is supported by inclusive human resource practices that foster collaboration, employee well-being, and effective organizational communication. The study contributes to the growing literature on diversity management by integrating Social Identity Theory, the Resource-Based View, and Diversity Management Theory into a comprehensive framework explaining how inclusive organizational practices transform workforce diversity into organizational capability. The findings provide practical guidance for organizational leaders and human resource professionals seeking to leverage cultural diversity as a source of sustainable organizational productivity.1
